Bastille Day atrocity in Nice

This letter was originally published in the Irish Times on Saturday, July 16, 2016.  This letter was also used as part of a news article by the Irish Examiner on Sunday, July 17, 2016, and in a post by the Muslim Times on July 17, 2016.

Sir, – The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Ireland and worldwide offers its deepest condolences to the people and government of France. We are shocked and saddened to hear of the terror attack in Nice in which dozens of innocent people have been killed. The victims, their families and the French nation are in our prayers. The victims of this barbaric attack and their families are in our thoughts.

All forms of terrorism and extremism are completely against the true teachings of Islam. The Holy Quran has said that to kill even one innocent person is akin to killing all of mankind. We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured and offer our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims – Yours, etc,
